Elected UK Youth Parliament Representatives
Following the count, the two successful candidates elected as UK Youth Parliament representatives are:
Logan Ward, Ferndale
Llewellyn Harris, Cwm Rhondda
Llewellyn Harris said:
“Being voted as a MYP is such an honour! It’s like being handed a megaphone to amplify the voices of my peers. I’m incredibly excited! And I can’t wait to represent all young people in RCT! And deal with their ideas and concerns appropriately. It’s a chance to make real change and shape the future.”
Logan Ward added:
“After the recent electoral results, I feel truly humbled to have been elected by my fellow Young People to represent RCT as a member of youth parliament for RCT in dual partnership. Since, I have felt huge amounts of gratitude and appreciation for all of those who endured to support me throughout my journey. I am deeply grateful it has contributed towards my confidence hugely. Through commitment, dedication and hard work I believe anything is possible. I hope I have inspired Young People to do so and use their voices because it matters! It is an honour to represent RCT in Youth Parliament. I will look back at my campaign positively and will endure to reach outward to the community! Most importantly I am looking forward to making Young People’s voices into a reality and to deliver positive impacts across the area, for the young people of our community in the future!”
Khandi Jarvis – our previous Member of Youth Parliament also reflected on her time as a MYP and the elections:
“As a MYP I was honoured to be able to speak out on the issues we as young people face in day-to-day life. The opportunities to connect with people from across the UK and overseas territories were amazing and I hope everyone is proud of the work we have done together. To the future MYP’s I wish you luck and hope you have a wonderful term!”
The elected MYPs will now go on to represent the voices, views and priorities of young people locally and nationally, working on key issues that matter most to their peers.
YEPS would like to thank all candidates, voters and supporters for taking part and demonstrating the value of youth voice, democracy and participation.
As the newly elected MYPs begin their journey, young people are encouraged to follow their progress and continue to get involved – this is just the beginning.
