Your space on the activity won’t be 100% confirmed until the consent form is returned.

Holiday Provision

Summer Central @ Hawthorn!
RCTCBC Youth Engagement and Participation Service would like to invite you to our summer activity days on Thursday 28th July, 4th and 11th August, 11am to 2pm.

No need to book in advance. Open and free to every aged 11 to 25 years old (if you are under 11 years old we ask that you are accompanied by a parent/carer please).

We have a range of activities, including: Arts and Crafts, Pyrography (Wood Burning), Multi-sports, Martial Arts, DJing and Radio, Bushcraft, and more. Also, one of the YEPS Mobile Youth Provision Vans will be visiting each week, so that you can charge your phones, connect to free Wi-Fi, play on the Xbox/PS5, relax with friends, and speak to Youth Workers who are able to provide you with Information, Advice and Guidance on a range of topics.

Find us at Hawthorn Community Centre (behind Hawthorn Leisure Centre) from 11am to 2pm. Remember, YEPS runs a Youth Club every Thursday, 5.45pm to 8pm; which will also run all through the summer holidays!

Aqua Park - Week One
It is essential that you are a confident swimmer if you wish to take part on this trip. The activity takes place outdoors.

Bus pick-up from: Hawthorn High School is at 10am. We will return at approximately 3.15pm.

You will be supplied with a wetsuit. We’d advise wearing shorts and a vest, or a swimming costume underneath. You will also need to bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink, a towel, and a change of clothes. We would advise wearing a minimum of SPF Factor 30 Sunscreen.

Ponty Lido - Week Two
This activity would require you to be a fairly confident swimmer and comfortable with water. This activity takes place outdoors.

Bus pick-up from: Hawthorn High School is at 11.30am. We will return at approximately 2.45pm.

You will need to bring a swimming costume, a towel, and a change of clothes. You will also need to bring a packed lunch, a drink, or a small amount of money (no more than £10 as a guide) to buy food at the venue. You will also need a £1 coin for the locker. We would advise wearing a minimum of SPF Factor 30 Sunscreen.

Surfing - Week Three
It is essential that you are a confident swimmer if you wish to take part on this trip. The activity takes place outdoors.

Bus pick-up from: Hawthorn High School is at 9.30am. We will return at approximately 3pm.

You will be supplied with a wetsuit. We’d advise wearing shorts and a vest, or a swimming costume underneath. You will also need to bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink, a towel, and a change of clothes. We would advise wearing a minimum of SPF Factor 30 Sunscreen.

Cinema - Week Four
This is an indoor activity. The film that we watch will be decide on the day, depending on show times, group size, etc. We cannot guarantee you will be able to watch your chosen/preferred film.

Bus pick-up from: Hawthorn High School is at 10.30am. We will return at approximately 3.30pm.

You will need to bring a packed lunch and drink, or a small amount of money (no more than £10 as a guide) to buy food at the venue. It is the final decision of the YEPS staff if you are able to visit other venues to purchase food or drink.

Go Karting - Week Five
*MINIMUM HEIGHT RESTRICTION APPLIES*
You must be at least 1.39 metres (4 foot, 6 inches) to take part. If you are shorter than this and you attend, you will be driven around the course as a passenger by an instructor.

Bus pick-up from: Hawthorn High School is at 10.30am. We will return at approximately 3.45pm.

This is an outdoor activity. You will need to bring a packed lunch and drink, or a small amount of money (no more than £10 as a guide) to buy food at the venue. We would advise wearing a minimum of SPF Factor 30 Sunscreen.

You will be supplied with gloves and a helmet, but you MUST bring/wear suitable footwear; no heels, platforms, flip-flops, etc.
Family Fun Day and Pride Celebration
YEPS is throwing a Pride celebration! Everyone is welcome to join us at this Family Fun Day to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community across RCT.

We will have a range of activities including: a Bouncy Castle, Music and Dance Workshops, Jewelry Making, and the all important Parade!

.. Rumour has it, there may even be some prizes for: "Best Costumes", but you'll have to come and find out for yourselves!

There will be a bus pick-up from Hawthorn High School at: 10:15am, with an approximate return of 3:30pm. Entry and transport is free, but we would advise you to bring a packed lunch. The event takes place in Aberdare Park, so there won't be anywhere to purchase food.

This is an outdoor event, so please be mindful of the weather and react accordingly; e.g, wear appropriate SPF if it is a sunny day, etc.
